Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: To Samburu national reserve from Nairobi
Early morning after your breakfast, you will be met and picked up by your tour guide for this 4-day safari to Samburu and Lake Nakuru. Drive through farmlands on this scenic drive to Sambur national reserve where you will arrive in the afternoon, continue to the camp / lodge for check in and lunch. After, you will embark on an early evening game drive to get introduced to the vast arid wilderness of Samburu. Overnight at the camp / lodge.
Day 2: Samburu national reserve full day exploration
Early morning game drive after breakfast for a chance to catch up with the predators of Samburu, lion, leopards, cheetahs on a morning kill and the grazers out feeding on the grass before the dew dries up. Drive to different parts of the reserve in search of its unique rare species which include reticulated giraffes, grevy’s zebras, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx and long necked gerenuk among other animals and birds. Lunch back at the camp / lodge, a relaxed afternoon at the lodge or you can go on a Samburu village cultural tour.
Later in early evening drive deeper to explore more of the reserve especially the Ewaso Ng’iro River for some spectacular wildlife sightings as lots of wildlife converge at the banks and areas around the river. Return to your camp / lodge at sunset.
Day 3: To Lake Nakuru national park from Samburu national reserve
Depart Samburu national reserve after your breakfast. Hit the scenic road to Lake Nakuru national park south of the Equator at the floor of the Great Rift valley. You will be in Nakuru in the afternoon, drive to your camp / lodge for lunch and check in. Relax at your camp / lodge for the afternoon. Later in the early evening go on a game drive to explore the park. Famously known for the soda lake, Lake Nakuru and the millions of flamingos that flock its shores. Look out for giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, buffalo, rhinos, lion, leopard, baboons, waterbucks among others. Overnight at the camp / lodge.
Day 4: To Nairobi from Lake Nakuru national park
Pre-sunrise game drive in Lake Nakuru national park for more stunning game viewing chances like prey-predator early morning action. This game drive marks the end of your wildlife safari in Samburu and Lake Nakuru. After breakfast and check out, drive back to Nairobi with a stopover at the viewpoint of the scenic Rift valley. Drop off at the airport or hotel in Nairobi.
