Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu national reserve

Transfer from Nairobi with a pick up from your hotel or resident heading to the arid terrain of Samburu national park. You will stop for lunch in the famous Nanyuki town at the base of Mt. Kenya. Procced to Samburu national reserve, a unique reserve in Northern Kenya famously known for its “special five” which are the beisa oryx, long necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, grevy’s zebra and the reticulated giraffe. You will take on an afternoon game drive before you retire to your lodge for an overnight and dinner.

Day 2: Samburu national reserve

Samburu has a high concentration of wildlife inhabiting its 165 sq kilometers including the Big 4; lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos and hundreds of elephants among other animals like the zebras, antelopes, giraffes, oryx, gerenuk, waterbucks, impalas, dik-diks, cheetahs, baboons, hippos and more. The Ewaso Ng’iro River in the South of the reserve is a great magnet for the wildlife within Samburu, be sure to drive by while on a game drive.
You can opt to visit a Samburu village for a guided cultural experience. Overnight back at your lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Morning breakfast and transfer to Ol Pejeta conservancy on the cooler side of Mt. Kenya with one last game drive as you leave Samburu national reserve.

Home to different animal species, Ol Pejeta conservancy is the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters chimp sanctuary, the conservancy is also a sanctuary for the endangered black rhinos. You shall visit the Rhino enclosure for a chance to see the rhinos. Overnight in Ol Pejeta at your lodge.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Spend this day exploring this amazing conservancy expecting to see lots of interesting animals that will have you tick your whole list of expected sightings starting with the Big 5 among other animals that include the playful chimpanzees, baboons, giraffes, foxes, impalas, cheetahs, hyenas and with some luck, you with be able to track down the rare African wild dog. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve

You will be up very early today, have breakfast and your journey to Maasai Mara national reserve via Nairobi where you will have a stop for a delicious lunch. You can opt to take an hours’ flight from Ol Peleta to Maasai Mara national reserve.

From Nairobi, procced to Maasai Mara arriving later in the day, check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight in Maasai Mara at your lodge.

Day 6: Maasai Mara national reserve

An early game drive in Maasai Mara national reserve to watch as the park comes to life at sunrise and for a chance to see the predators of Maasai Mara, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, leopards and other cats. An optional activity for this early morning is a hot air balloon safari.

If you are in the park in the months of July to October. Be sure to drive to the famous Mara River for a chance of catching sight of the great wildebeest migration. Especially the action-packed Mara River crossing. Find time to visit one of the Maasai villages to meet and interact with the famous Maasai people of Kenya. Overnight at your lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi – End of safari

Breakfast and exit from Maasai Mara national reserve after a morning game drive. Drop off at the airport / hotel or residence in Nairobi.
