The Samburu National reserve can be visited all year round but there are favorable months depending on your interests. There are two seasons in Samburu National reserve: The dry and wet season. They both come in two phases. The dry season runs from December to February and Mid June to September. The wet seasons run from October to November and March to mid June. In usual cases, there rains will be coming sometime in March till June.
But because nature is not easy to control or determine, the rains will sometimes start showing up sometimes in the mid February and intensify sometime in mid March. For people that do not fancy intense heat, Samburu in February can sometimes have some showers that are not heavy and most times they occur in the afternoon which gives you chance to plan for your safari efficiently. Make sure you pack for both rains and extreme sun if you intend to safari during these times.
