GEOGRAPHY OF SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Samburu national reserve is located in North Kenya in Samburu district mostly occupied by the famous Samburu people from which the park gets its name. The reserve is situated North of the Equator line.

The reserve is located in the semi-desert region of North Kenya covering an area of 165 square kilometers.
The reserve is situated at an altitude of approximately 800 meters to 1,230 meters above sea level.
Samburu national reserve experiences a semi-arid and arid climate with conditions. That are hot and dry during the day and cooler at night.
The reserve receives little rainfall which falls mostly during the wet season with April and November being the wettest months.
The reserve receives an annual rainfall of averagely 354 mm.
Temperatures during the day range between 29-32°C and during the night, 16-19°C.
The Ewaso Ng’iro River bordering the reserve in the South. Supplies water for the wildlife in the reserve all year round even during the hot dry season.
