ANIMALS ON SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

Grevy’s Zebra; these have more narrow stripes and are taller compared to the Plains zebras.
Reticulated giraffes; Their spots have smooth and straight sides as opposed to the common Masai giraffes and are a little shorter in height.
Beisa oryx;
Somali ostrich; Notably have grey-bluish skin on their neck and legs compared to the common ostrich and are native to Somalia.
Gerenuk; Highly noticed by its elongated slender neck.

The Rhino is non-existent in the reserve.

Antelopes like dik-dik, oribis, elands, klipspringer, impala, hartebeest, bushbuck, waterbuck, gazelles, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, mongoose (banded, slender and dwarf), warthogs, honey badgers, Maasai giraffes, plains, zebras, hippos, hares (African, spring), spotted hyena, striped jackal, pangolins, bush baby, bat eared fox, aardwolf, wild dog, Nile crocodiles among others.
Samburu national reserve has a rich birdlife consisting of over 450 bird species including the famous Somali ostrich, the common ostrich, martial eagles, African fish eagle, snake eagle, kingfishers, francolins, bustards, vulturine guinea fowls, African darter, storks, spoonbill, bateleur, herons, kites, hamerkop, lilac breasted roller, lark, weavers, hornbill, secretary bird, thick knees, mousebirds, striped kingfisher among others.
