Ngurunit

Ngurunit in Samburu is surrounded by the Ndoto mountain ranges and is located in the dry areas which make it easy to spot the sheer rock facing this town. This town has very long spells of dry seasons. The tough pastoralists however manage and keep their live stock well taken care of. The Sheer rock that faces this ton is called the Poi. Poi is what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris or the Taj Mahal is to India, its bare cliff face changing colors from dawn to dusk as the sun travels across the sky.

Ngurunit is renowned for having a wonderful natural swimming area. This spring-fed stream cascades into little pools carved out of granite boulders. Between the pools, these smooth, polished rocks create organic water slides. I was eager to see this oasis in the middle of the desert since it caught my attention.

Best time to visit Ngurunit in Samburu

The Samburu National Reserve is open year-round, but for safaris aimed at observing Kenyan wildlife, June through October and December through March are the ideal times to come. Because they are congregating at water holes, animals are easier to identify during these dry season periods.

The months of November through May are the finest times to visit Samburu National Reserve for bird viewing. However, because of the high grass during this time of year, it is not the best time to observe wildlife.
