Samburu National game reserve is one of the best safari destinations in East Africa. Its Game reserve is located in the Northern area of Kenya. It’s on the banks of the famous Ewaso Ngiro River. The Samburu National Game reserve covers an area of about 165 square kilometers of wilderness. It is bordered by the Ewaso Ngiro River to the south and it’s a separation between the Samburu National game reserve and the Buffalo springs reserve. This area is the best spot in Kenya to view the shy leopards. The wild dogs are another species that are special here.

Together with his companion Von Holnel, Count Telekis visited the current Samburu National game reserve in the 1960 and described it as hub for wildlife. This area became a very god hunting ground for the many European visitors that followed thereafter. In the year 1948, the Samburu national game reserve had become a protected area under the wider Marsabit National Reserve.

The Samburu national game reserve has a number of community conservancies that operate here with the most notable one being the Kalama community conservancy. There is also the west gate community conservancy and the Namunyak wildlife conservancy.
Due to migration, there are a lot of cultural groups that you can see here and explore. . The climate and weather of the area is another thing to look out for while here. The Samburu people here are mostly pastoralists and their ways are similar to those of the Masai people and I am sure you will fascinated by them as well. The other activities include ature walks, camel rides, sundowners and bush meals.
